Perhaps the single largest innovation within this all new story is the implementation of a “clock and calendar” system, which will be a far more advanced form of that which Pokemon Gold/ Silver offered. A player now has seven real days with which to complete the game. Within these seven days, the in-game characters enact a virtual life. They will go to nightclubs on certain days, work within set hours, and sleep for a set amount of time each day. To complete the game with a 100% rating (which, including sub-quests, promises to be roughly 20 hours total gameplay), one will need to play the game at nearly every hour of the day for at least a short period over the course of seven days. Should you fail to complete the main objective of the whole game within this seven day time frame, the game will automatically register a game over, deleting the save file and forcing you to start anew. Harsh perhaps, but this innovation means that the game should have a lovely tension of ‘racing against the clock.
