1. What is MetroidMetal?

I'd like to start by explaining a little bit about Metroid Metal... what it is, and what it will become.

The title screen music for the original Metroid game still gives me chills, and although many remixes have shown up in various places - namely Overclocked ReMix - none have the energy that the classic tunes deserve in my opinion.

So here's my chance to pay some serious attention to this awesome soundtrack! I've gathered my gear, midi files, patience, some guitar tab software (for MAKING tabs), and plan on bringing rock fans the remix THEY deserve. I hope you all enjoy it!

2. Who is MetroidMetal?

My name is Grant Henry, and I'm a long-time Metroid fan. I've played guitar for years, been through many band experiences, and I've finally taken songwriting and \"band emulation\" into my own hands. I'm doing this by myself, because I can focus better, make this my vision 100%, and create songs that are a little more complicated. If you are interested at all in some of MY music, you're welcome to visit my mp3 site.

3. The tunes you can expect?

You will be getting ALL of the tunes from the original NES Metroid game for starters. I'm taking my time with each one so there won't be a weak track. All of these songs will be available:

If you're not quite sure what some of these tunes sound like, you can hear the midi files on this page. I can't say what will happen after these are all finished, but it's safe to say I'll be moving on to other games (probably Metroid - possibly others).

4. The future of this project

Well, THE SITE HAS TO GO UP FIRST, RIGHT?? You can assume that the next mailing you receive will be the site launch announcement, and we're not far away from that. After the album (yes... \"ALBUM\") is completed, all tracks will be available in the order that best suits the flow of an album. By the time it's complete, the running time will be a significant EP's length, so WHY NOT MAKE IT AN ALBUM??? I'll have printable artwork available for download.

If I get a larger response from the project, you might expect stickers, shirts - anything is possible, but the album and art are a given.

I hope to get attention from gaming related media, primarily. Maybe one of the website recommendations in Electronic Gaming Monthly, maybe a plug by a larger site like Gamespot, maybe some airplay by some unsuspecting radio stations... we'll just have to see. The PR starts when the site goes up.

One thing is for sure, this is FREE! I won't charge for a thing (except shirts of course). It deserves to be shared to all those interested. If it takes up a bunch of time, I may incorporate a Paypal donation link, but I highly doubt it.
